Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards below a value of 10 are worth their printed value meanwhile 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual players; they simply portray the 2 hands to be played).

2 hands of two cards shall then be dealt to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The score for each hand shall be the grand total of the two cards, but the initial digit is removed. For e.g., a hand of seven as well as five gives a value of two (7plus5=twelve; drop the ‘one’).

A third card may be given depending on the following practices:

- If the bettor or banker has a total score of eight or nine, the two gamblers stand.

- If the bettor has 5 or lower, he/she hits. gamblers stand otherwise.

- If bettor stands, the banker hits of 5 or lower. If the gambler hits, a chart shall be used to determine if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The higher of the 2 scores wins. Successful wagers on the banker pay nineteen to 20 (even money minus a 5 percent commission. Commission is kept track of and paid out when you leave the table so ensure that you have dollars still before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to one. Winner bets for tie usually pays 8 to one but sometimes nine to one. (This is a bad bet as ties will happen lower than one every ten hands. Definitely don’t try betting on a tie. Regardless odds are decidedly better – 9 to one versus 8 to 1)

When done properly, baccarat provides relatively good odds, away from the tie wager of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with all games, Baccarat has some common misconceptions. One of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is in no way an indicator of future results. Keeping track of old conclusions on a chart is a waste of paper … a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most established and possibly most successful technique is the one-3-2-6 concept. This technique is deployed to magnify payout and cutting back risk.

Begin by betting one unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, clear away four so you have two on the third wager. If you win the 3rd wager, add two to the four on the table for a sum total of 6 on the 4th wager.

If you lose on the 1st wager, you suck up a loss of one. A win on the first bet followed up by loss on the 2nd causes a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Getting a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. This means you can lose the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
